Eli enjoys to do a little cooking now and then. His style definitely draws from a strong French bistro foundation, though he brings the energy and spice commonly found in Southeast Asian cuisines.

Basically, that boils down to the fact that this bowl is filled with flour, sugar, and black pepper.

baby wyatt’s first days

Posted by on May 04 2013

Wyatt Isaiah Burns was born May 1, 2013 at 10:16pm. Clocking in at 6 lbs. 9 ounces, and 19 1/4″ long. That’s 3 ounces heavier than Eli, and a 1/4 inch longer, for those keeping track at home. The first few days have been wonderful, and Wyatt has adjusted well to the outside world… I think we’re all adjusting well too to life as a family of four. Here are a few pictures from Wyatt’s first few days.

The introduction of Eli to Wyatt went so incredibly well, too. The day after Wyatt was born I went home to bring Eli to the hospital to meet his brother. I hyped it up at home – “You’re gonna meet your little brother!” – and I showed him a cute little wooden car, with Wyatt’s name engraved, that he could give to him as a present. Eli ate it all up and was very excited.

When we got to the hospital, Steph knelt down to meet Eli at the door and said, “Hi buddy, how are you doing?” Eli marched up to her, looked her in the eye and said, “Hi Momma. Where’s baby Wyatt?”

They had some really cute first moments together. Eli keep kissing Wyatt on the forehead, and touching his little fingers and cheeks and nose. At the end of the post is a video where Eli says, “Baby Wyatt is just a little guy.”

Hope you enjoy these pictures of Wyatt’s first few days!

Then there’s this. Eli found an extra hospital cap laying around and wanted to be like his baby brother, so he fully stretched this infant stocking cap over his round head.

do you like your tummy?

Posted by on May 03 2013

If you haven’t heard already, baby Wyatt was born on May 1st! Fun baby pics to come soon, but I wanted to share this little moment. I really tried to get this post up the other day (before Wyatt was born) but one thing led to another and it didn’t happen.

Eli had this conversation with Steph the day before Wyatt was born:

Eli: “Do you like your tummy mommy?”
Mommy: “I do like my tummy. Do you like my tummy?”

Eli: “Yeah, I do like your tummy. My baby brother’s in there. He’s coming.”

Do you like your tummy mommy?

Lots of posts recently. Aren’t you impressed? Trying to get some worthwhile content out before the baby comes, at which point it will be two years before you see anything else on here… if history is any indication.

Eli loves brushing his teeth lately. Sprawled out on the sink, brushing away.

our little family of three (for now)

Posted by on Apr 29 2013

As it stands, right here, right now at this moment on Monday, April 29th, 2013 at 4:47pm, we are a family of three. But around about 2:00am this morning as we were counting minutes between contractions and scurrying around the house getting things together for a potentially not-too-far-off-in-the-distant-future hospital trip, we realized that being a family of three is only going to be the case for so much longer.

Sidebar, let’s be honest… I was the one scurrying; Steph was not scurrying, as she has had her hospital bag packed for two weeks. I’ve been procrastinating. Which is surprising because you’d think I would have learned by now, as no one wants this to happen again.

As baby Wyatt will be here before we know it, it’s a great time to show off these recent family pics. As-per-uszhe, thanks go to Meg for her photography skillz, not to mention Dave for his “don’t move and you’ll get a treat” dispensing skillz. Dave also did a nice job barricading the child from running into oncoming traffic, making sure rocks didn’t get eaten, and watching out for oncoming locomotives.

Today at 4:47pm we’re a family of three. But, with a due date of May 15th and contractions contracting, that could change at any time!
